Develop project management tools to manage performance rights for the project is the first step in planning the structure and success. Unfortunately most companies do not start with project management software sophisticated and expensive, but start with a collection of models of Home Grown usually Word and MS Excel. Where to start?

Look at what elements are necessary to manage the project. If you are using PMBOK process groups, you can choose between some of the basic tools to set up a basic structure of the project. Initiating the development of several key tools, you can start with the basic structure, which can be applied to most projects. Which covers the five process groups, you must set the structure that supports the project throughout its life cycle. At some point, you may find that could be added to the list of tools needed, depending on project complexity and risk. The initial list of group processes to start.

Timetable for the project. Detailed job specifications, which identifies the tasks, resource requirements, task durations, and dependencies. Many people use a tool like MS Project to develop the program Gantt chart project.

Implementation and monitoring

Shares / connection problems. A Quick Start tool to identify project issues and actions are generally not covered by the project schedule. It usually includes a description of the article, the completion status, priority, and associated notes.

Risk register. It shows the risks identified in relation to the probability of occurrence of the event risk vs related effects, if realized. A good track record also includes a mechanism able to identify the severity level, and that the project address, monitor or reject.

Implementation of these seven tools will give you a toolkit of basic project management of your projects. As you grow your resources, trying to add additional models, which can be used to support the needs of your organization typical project.
